As relatively handsomely mounted as this movie is, it's also kind of a shambles.
Without a sturdier script featuring fully dimensional characters... the performances prove to be as unconvincing as their ethnic accents and period wigs.
A missed opportunity, the kind of yo-yo-ing highlights version of a life that seems less examined than expedited.
The Weiders denounced drinking and espoused protein shakes, but the film suggests you can never have too much cheese.
Overly sanitized biopic tackles bigotry; mild violence.
It doesn't matter how hard Hoechlin is trying when every other inch of Bigger looks and sounds so patently fake.
...it's ultimately difficult not to embrace the rags-to-riches bent of the central character's trajectory of success.
After an hour of being a film you endure rather than enjoy, the character of Arnold enters Bigger, played by Australian body-builder/actor Calum Von Moger, and he is a revelation.
I thought the characters were well-fleshed (in more ways than one).
